The Coronavirus outbreak reminds us of the importance of planning and preparation. Estate planning allows us to take control of our affairs and provides a degree of certainty in uncertain times.
We have recently received many inquiries from people who want to get basic estate planning documents quickly. This is why we have created the KeyThree Plan. It includes three essential legal documents: a Health Care Proxy, a Living Will, and a HIPAA Release.
A Health Care Proxy allows you to name a trusted person to make medical decisions on your behalf if you become incapacitated. A Living Will details your wishes regarding medical treatments you want (or don’t want) in an end of life situation. A HIPAA Medical Release allows you to specify who has access to your medical information. Without a HIPAA Release, family members may be denied access to information about your condition in an emergency.
While the KeyThree Plan should not take the place of more comprehensive planning, we are offering it now to help people get critical basic documents in place quickly during the pandemic. We have greatly reduced our normal fee for these essential documents. The KeyThree Plan is priced at just $99 for a single person and for a married couple it is $175. It is available to any Massachusetts resident 18 years of age or older.
